2018 the year of you…

The beginning of the year is a time of reflection for most; New Year’s resolutions are made, and for the majority, these resolutions aren’t followed through. Whether it be to lose weight, quit drinking or smoking, exercise more, travel more, be more sociable, be less sociable or get more sleep. I am sure most of us at some point have made one or more of these New Year’s resolutions that are never fulfilled. Which made me question why? Is it because a resolution seems so final or daunting or just that our lives are so hectic that we keep putting them off?

Let’s make 2018 the year of you, the beginning of positively focusing on yourself. I personally have decided to do this as I had a wakeup call a couple of weeks ago.  I needed to go and get my eyes checked for new glasses as I had noticed a decline in my eyesight over the last few months. At my check-up we realised I hadn’t been to get new glasses since 2011. As you can imagine, I was quite horrified it had been that long, The Optometrist showed me how weak my current glasses were to the ones I actually needed. Which brought about reflecting on other things I’d been neglecting, dentist, skin checks…

We only get one body, so we have to take care of it. What have you been putting off? Eye exams, Dentist, skin checks, pap smears, prostate checks, health check with your GP- blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes.  We are all on a journey to better health, not only do we need to ensure we are eating nutritious meals that are fuel for our body, we also must make sure we get our annual check-ups. So this year let’s all focus on making it the year of you!
