I dreamed that I would one day, shop in a ‘regular’ shop, as opposed to ‘fat lady shops’

I am 46 years old, married with two young adult daughters and aside from a couple of ‘brief’ periods I’ve been overweight all my life. Lucky for me I wasn’t suffering from any specific health related issues yet, though constant tiredness and soreness in my knees were starting to affect my overall wellbeing. Also, losing both my mum and dad in recent years following heart related issues, it was only a matter of time before it would be my turn.

I was introduced to Cambridge after seeing the results of a work colleague. Having tried many diets over the years, I was extremely sceptical about meal replacements but was encouraged to just ‘give it a go’ for a week – well, needless to say after 1 week the loss was amazing and I was hooked.

Over the years I’d blamed my weight on a number of issues from financial stress to work pressures and of course the transition of teenagers to adults, along with the deaths of my parents. Yet it was at a time when these stresses were at their most extreme that I embarked on the Cambridge journey – looking back now I think I embraced it as the one thing in my life I could control.

I’ve lost over 40kgs and have never felt better. I no longer fall asleep at 7pm or wake in the morning still tired – I have energy to live and no longer avoid social events. Shopping has taken on a whole new meaning too. Over the last 6 months, the movement of bags of clothes as I dropped sizes on a regular basis has been a regular talking point. I once dreamt of shopping in a ‘regular’ shop as opposed to what I referred to as ‘fat lady shops’ – I’m now a very comfortable size 12-14.
